Here are five+1 events that we will be attending in the city this month, and we hope you can come out to some of these as well~

04: P40 Talkerative: Zine + Button Making

What better way to start the month with P40’s first Talkeratives workshop?

Talkeratives is our new initiative to offer affordable, communal workshops for Asian Canadians to develop art skills, explore art topics, creative processes and social justice in a small group setting. This upcoming Monday, July 4th, we’ll be making zines and buttons. For $15, you will be provided with all the materials along with a drink and a pastry from Plentea. Come and learn something new and meet other great people in the community! Limited spaces left, so remember to sign up here.

06 - August 25: Terraforming

Presented by South Asian Visual Arts Centre, a group of artists gathered to explore the science fiction terminology of “terraforming” in language and cultural systems. Stop by Trinity Square Video from July 6th to August and see how these amazing artists tried to rethink our histories and futures - with nature and technology - through new media art!

08: OUTREACH 2016 - DEFINE

For the last five years, Gallery 44 held an arts program to bring attention to the needs of youth in underserved communities throughout the GTA. If you don’t get a chance to attend their Opening Reception on July 8th, go check it out sometime this month until the 23rd and see what these creative minds have produced this year within the theme of “DEFINE“.

15 - 17: SZEEN

If you get a chance to go to Scarborough, or if you happen to live there - head over to Y+ Contemporary! Three artists have come together for a sound and performance-based exhibition, exploring the spatial relationship between the performer, the audience and the object of view.

20 - 24: UNITY Festival 2016

UNITY Charity - an organization that aims to empower youth through exploration of various arts - is holding a four-day festival. Starting off with a visual and graffiti art exhibition, followed by a spoken word showcase, dance and beatbox battle and finally ending it off with a concert featuring both local and internationally acclaimed artists.

31: Summer Pop Up Market & Mingle: Toronto Queer Zine Fair IV

Mark the last day of the month with some great time at the Gladstone Hotel with artists and zinesters of Toronto! Also a fundraising event to pay for accessibility costs for their next fair, they promise it will be a fun creative space to find some inspiration~
